Ray-Ban is a manufacturer of sunglasses, founded in 1937 by Bausch & Lomb. In 1999, Bausch & Lomb sold the brand to the Luxottica Group.

In 1927, after crossing the Atlantic in a balloon, that Lieutenant John MacCready ask the German optician emigrated to the United States to imagine Bausch & Lomb eye "protective wrap and panoramic. RB3 glass, green and filtering ultraviolet and infrared, is created three years later.
